SA gitna ng malawakang imbestigasyon sa maanomalyang flood control projects ng Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), isang opisyal ng ahensya ang kumpirmadong nagpakamatay bunsod ng umano’y “pressure” na dulot ng naturang kontrobersiya.
Sa isang kalatas, kinumpirma ng DPWH Central Office ang pagpapatiwakal ni Engineer Larry Reyes na chairman ng bids and awards committee ng DPWH-Sorsogon 1st District Engineering Office.
“The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) expressed grief over the death of one of its engineers from Sorsogon and urged the public and media to refrain from spreading unverified reports about the incident.”
The matter is private and unrelated to any ongoing issues or investigations, and that the family has requested privacy as they mourn.”
Sa isang Facebook post, ibinahagi ng netizen na nagpakilalang kasama sa trabaho ni Reyes ang dinaranas sa depression at diabetes ng biktimang mas pinili wakasan ang buhay kesa umabot sa puntong kailangan mag dialysis.
Pagdating naman aniya sa trabaho, istrikto umano proseso ng bidding ng mga proyekto ng kagawaran.
