“WE pray that Congress impeaches Vice President Sara Duterte!”
Ito ang mariing pahayag ni Rev. Fr. Joselito “Bong” Sarabia sa panayam ng mga mamamahayag matapos pangunahan ang hanay ng kaparian, law practitioners at iba pa sa paghahain sa Kamara ng pangatlong impeachment complaint laban kay Vice President Sara Duterte.
“This is the time for her to present her evidence… this is an occasion for her to answer the accusations,” wika ng Kura Paroko ng Ina ng Lupang Pangako Parish sa Barangay Payatas B, Quezon City.
Sa pagsusumite ng verified impeachment complaint sa tanggapan ni House Secretary general Atty. Cheloy Garafil, tumayong endorser si Mamamayang Liberal (ML) partylist Rep. Leila de Lima.
Bukod kay Sarabia, pasok sa talaan ng mga “complainants” sina Rev. Fr. Edilberto J. Baculi; Rev. Fr. Rogelio D. del Rosario; Pastor Leonard P. Arevalo; Pinky L. Tam, Maria Loreto A. Lopez; Atty. Jalilo O. dela Torre; Atty. Democrito C. Barcenas; Atty. Lourdes Barcenas; Sister Ma. Liza Ruedas; Sister Violeta B. Cecilio; at Sister Geraldine J. Denoga.
Giit ng grupo, base sa itinatakda ng Section 2, Article XI ng 1987 Constitution, si Duterte-Carpio ay maaaring mapatalsik sa puwesto sa pamamagitan ng “impeachment for, and conviction of, culpable violation of the Constitution, treason, bribery, graft and corruption, other high crimes or betrayal of public trust.”
Partikular na tinukoy ng naturang grupo ang paglustay ng pangalawang pangulo sa hindi bababa sa P500 milyong confidential funds na inilaan sa Office of the Vice-President (OVP) sa pagitan 2022 at 2023.
Pasok duin sa reklamo ang umano’y pagwawaldas ni Duterte sa P112,500,000.00 confidential funds ng Department of Education (DepEd) sa panahong hawak pa ni Sara ang kagawaran bilang Kalihim.
Malaking pagkakasala rin, anila, ang sinasabing panunuhol ng bise presidente sa ilang opisyal ng DepEd, ang pagkuha ng papatay kina Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr., First Lady Liza Araneta Marcos at former House Speaker Martin Romualdez.
Inakusahan din ang pangalawang pangulo ng pagkakamal ng yaman habang nasa posisyon, hindi tamang pagdedeklara ng kanyang Statement of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth (SALN), pagsusulong ng political destabilization, high crimes of sedition at insurrection. (ROMER R. BUTUYAN)
