HINDI na nakuha pang makapagsalita ni Senador Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa matapos dakpin ng Philippine National Police (PNP) si former President Rodrigo Duterte sa bisa ng warrant of arrest na inilabas ng International Criminal Court (ICC).
Sa gitna naman ng katahimikan ni Dela Rosa, nagpahayag ng kasiyahan sina dating Senador Leila De Lima at Senador Risa Hontiveros sa pag-aresto kay Duterte.
Gayunpaman, nilinaw ni De Lima na hindi para sa sarili ang dahilan ng kanyang kasiyahan — kundi para sa libo-libong pinaslang sa madugong giyera kontra droga sa ilalim ng nakalipas na administrasyon.
Pag-amin naman ni Cedie Dela Rosa na tumatayong media relations officer ng reelectionist senator, wala pang pahayag ang dating PNP chief na nanguna sa implementasyon ng drug war ni Duterte.
“Good afternoon, everyone. As of now, no official statement yet from Sen. Bato. I will update po if there are developments. Salamat,” ayon kay Cedie Dela Rosa.
Tulad ni Duterte, nahaharap din si Dela Rosa sa kasong crimes against humanity bilang chief implementer ng Oplan Tokhang bilang hepe ng pambansang pulisya.
Samantala, inihayag naman ni De Lima – na nakulong sa loob ng pitong taon sa gawa-gawang kaso ng droga – ang abot-tengang kagalakan ng pamilya ng mga pinaslang na biktima ng giyera kontra droga sa panahon ni Duterte.
“This is deeply personal for me. For almost seven years, I was imprisoned on fabricated charges, accused of crimes I did not commit — all because I dared to speak out against Duterte’s drug war. While I was behind bars, thousands of Filipinos were killed without justice, their families left to grieve with no answers, no accountability,” ayon kay De Lima.
“Today, Duterte is being made to answer—not to me, but to the victims, to their families, to a world that refuses to forget. This is not about vengeance. This is about justice finally taking its course,” ayon kay De Lima.
“I faced my case, knowing I was innocent. I stood before the courts because I had nothing to hide. Duterte now has to answer for his actions, not in the court of public opinion, but before the rule of law. This is how justice should work—those in power must be held to the same standards as everyone else,’ paliwanag ng dating senador na kabilang sa mga nominado ng ML Partylist group.
“To those who have fought this long and difficult fight—your voices mattered, your courage mattered, and today, the pursuit of justice continues,” pagtatapos ni De Lima.
Sa kanyang bahagi, sinabi naman ni Hontiveros na “dumating na ang araw na hinihintay ng mga pamilya ng libo-libong Pilipino na napatay sa madugong tokhang ni dating Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte.”
“Pinanghahawakan ko ang mga sinabi ni dating Pangulong Duterte, under oath, na haharapin niya ang kaso sa International Criminal Court. Sana, bilang abogado, siya ay sumunod sa mga proseso nito,” ayon kay Hontiveros.
“The thousands of Filipinos killed during tokhang were not murdered by one man alone. Sana ay simula pa lang ito ng paghahabol sa lahat ng mga opisyal at kawani ng gobyerno na responsable sa pagpatay sa inosente o walang kalaban-laban,” ayon sa senadora. (ESTONG REYES)
