KASABAY sa inaasahang pagtanggap ng mga manggagawa ng kanilang mid-year bonuses, nanawagan si KABAYAN Partylist Rep. Ron Salo sa Kongreso na palawakin ang tax-exempt bonuses, na mula ₱90,000 ay gawing P150,000.
“Our workers should be able to enjoy the full value of their hard-earned bonuses. These are not luxuries. They are rewards for service, loyalty, and productivity. It’s only right that we do not reduce them through taxation,” pahayag ni Salo.
Ayon sa KABAYAN partylist lawmaker, maghahain siya ng panukalang batas na naglalayong hindi na maisama sa pagbabayad ng income tax ang lahat ng uri ng employees bonus, kabilang ang 14th month pay, mid-year bonuses, at maging ang iba pang performance-based o incentive bonuses na hanggang ₱150,000.
“This proposed measure is intended to provide financial relief amid rising living costs,” wika ni Salo.
“Our goal is to help workers take home more of what they rightfully earned.Most Filipinos have little to no savings, leaving them vulnerable during emergencies and dependent on government subsidies for support. By not taxing these bonuses, we increase both their savings capacity and purchasing power, which ultimately supports the economy,” paliwanag ng kongresista.
Sa ilalim ng kasalukuyang batas, tanging ang 13th month pay at iba pang benepisyo na hindi hihigit ₱90,000 ang tax-exempt lamang.
Umaasa si Salo na ang isusulong niyang panukalang batas ay makakakuha ng malaking bipartisan support sa Kongreso dahil direktang makikinabang din ang milyon-milyong manggagawang Pilipino at kanilang pamilya.
