SA gitna ng dusang dulot ng matinding init sa mga mag-aaral, iminungkahi ng isang militanteng kongresista ang pagpapatayo ng mas maraming silid aralan at sapat na bentilasyon bilang solusyon sa suliranin sa mga pampublikong paaralan.
Para kay House Deputy Minority Leader at ACT Teachers partylist Rep. France Castro, sapat na ang sukdulang heat index sa iba’t ibang bahagi ng bansa para gisingin ang pamahalaan sa problemang kinakaharap ng sektor ng edukasyon.
“The current heat index experienced by our students and teachers should serve as a wake-up call to prioritize the construction of additional classrooms and the improvement of ventilation systems in our schools,” sabi pa ni Castro.
“It is unjust for our learners and educators to suffer in unbearable conditions that directly affect their health, well-being, and academic performance,” dugtong ng militanteng kongresista.
Ani Castro, dahil sa matinding init – na umabot na sa sukdulang antas – ang mga mag-aaral at guro ay nalalagay sa hindi mabuting kondisyon kung saan apektado ang kanilang kakayahan at hindi na rin lubos na natutukan ang kanilang gawain sa eskuwela.
“This situation calls for immediate action to address the lack of infrastructure and insufficient ventilation systems in schools. The lack of adequate infrastructure not only affects the physical comfort of students and teachers but also infringes upon their right to quality education. Proper learning environments are crucial for the holistic development and success of students,” diin ng ACT Teachers partylist lawmaker.
Apela si Castro sa Department of Education (DepEd) at maging sa national at local government units, maglaan ng sapat na pondo para sa konstruksyon ng mga bagong classrooms, gayundin ang pagpapabuti sa ventilation systems ng mga paaralan sa buong bansa.
“The budget for education should at least be equivalent to 6% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the country based on UN recommendations. DepEd should conduct regular inspections and maintenance of existing facilities to ensure a conducive learning environment for all,” sabi pa ng kongresista.
“We cannot delay the provision of adequate infrastructure any longer. It is the responsibility of the government, particularly the DepEd, to prioritize the well-being and learning conditions of our students and teachers,” Rep. Castro emphasized. “Investing in the construction of more classrooms and improving ventilation systems is an investment in the future of our nation.”
Tiniyak naman ni Castro na patuloy nilang tutukan at ipaglalaban ang karapatan ng lahat ng mga guro at mag-aaral gayundin ang pagsusulong ng mga polisiya at programa para sa pagkakaroon ng mataas na kalidad ng edukasyon at maayos na learning environment.
