TARGET ng isang kongresista isalang sa mga susunod na pagdinig ng House Committee on Legislative Franchises si Finance Secretary Ralph Rector hinggil sa umano’y plano ng gobyerno mabawi ang kontrol sa National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP).
Partikular na tinukoy ni AAMBIS-OWA partylist Rep. Lex Anthony Cris Colada ang umano’y pagpasok ng Maharlika Investment Fund (MIF) sa NGCP.
Pag-amin ni Colada, may nagkwento lang umano sa kanya sa posibleng pagpasok ng MIF sa power transmission sector.
“Rumor has it… the last quarter of 2024 I think, Secretary Recto came out with his pronouncement, I don’t know if it’s the official position of the Department of Finance, but being the chairman of the Maharlika Fund iyong sinabi niya Mr. Rafael Consing (MIF President and Chief Executive Officer) you should take a good look at NGCP. That’s a good first investment opportunity for four reasons,” ani Colada.
“And these four reasons are number one security, with the West Philippines Sea problem that we have right now. Now two, profitability, it’s a good business opportunity. Number three track record, and number four development-oriented,” dugtong ng mambabatas.
Gayunpaman, wala maski isang kinatawan ang DOF sa naturang pagdinig. Ang dahilan – hindi naman imbitado ang naturang kagawaran sa pagdinig ng Kamara sa prangkisa ng NGCP.
Samantala, nanindigan si SAGIP partylist Rep. Rodante Marcoleta na dapat silipin ng pamahalaan ang generation at distribution charges – “Yan ay kung nais ng gobyerno mapababa ang presyo ng kuryente sa bansa.”
Aniya, ang transmission charges, na napupunta sa NGCP, ay 3% lamang ng bayarin ng mga konsyumer sa kuryente.
“The main purpose of the hearing is to lower the cost of electricity. The cost share of NGCP in the entire electric bill is only 3 percent; 52 percent is still in generation, and 25 percent is in distribution. If we are serious in focusing our attention on reducing electricity rates in the country, let’s focus on which area takes up the larger share. Dapat sa generation tayo en,” sambit ng partylist solon.
Dapat rin aniya seryosohin ng pamahalaan ang implementasyon ng Electric Power Industry Reform Act (EPIRA).
