MULING iginiit ng mga senior leader ng House of Representatives na wala sa agenda o prayoridad ng Kamara ang pagtalakay sa impeachment complaints na ihahain laban kay Vice President Sara Duterte.
“As we have repeatedly pointed out in media interviews, impeachment proceedings against Vice President Sara Duterte are not on our agenda,” ang tahasang sabi pa nina
Senior Deputy Speaker Aurelio “Dong” Gonzales Jr., Deputy Speaker David “Jay-Jay” Suarez, at House Majority Leader Manuel Jose “Mannix” M. Dalipe sa isang joint-statement.
“While the House is committed to upholding transparency and accountability, the primary focus of the House committees concerned is on uncovering the truth behind the use of confidential funds and addressing any alleged irregularities linked to questionable businesses,” anila hinggil sa imbestigasyon sa di umano’y paglustay ng bise-presidente ng daan-daang milyong confidential funds na inilaan ng Kongreso sa Office of the Vice President (OVP) at sa Department of Education (DepEd) sa panahon ng kanyang panunungkulan bilang Kalihim.
“Our institution is duty-bound to serve as a check and balance while safeguarding public trust. The Filipino people deserve answers regarding these serious matters, and we aim to fulfill this responsibility without political distractions or divisiveness,” ayon ranking House officials.
Nanawagan din ng pakikiisa ang mga kongresista para matiyak na ang pamamahala sa bansa ay nakatuon sa mas tunay na pangangailangan ng sambayanan, ang mapabuti ang pamumuhay ng bawat Pilipino, kasabay sa pagtupad ng responsibilidad na may integridad at patas sa lahat.
Batay sa mga probisyon sa ilalim ng 1987 Constitution, mas ki sino – basta Pilipino – pwedeng maghain ng impeachment complaint sa mga “impeachable officials.” Gayunpaman, kailangan pa rin ng isang miyembro ng Kamara para mag-endorso sa reklamo.
Ayon kina Gonzales, Suarez at Dalipe, batid nila ang tungkulin ng mga kongresista hinggil sa impeachment proceedings at tugunan ang bawat kasong ihahain ng mga ordinaryong mamamayan sa mga opisyales ng pamahalaan.
“This is not just the responsibility of the institution, but also the individual duty of each congressman to uphold the Constitution. Should an impeachment complaint be properly filed in accordance with the rules, the House is obligated to deliberate on it fairly and transparently, ensuring that the process adheres to the highest standards of justice.”
