NANINIWALA si House Deputy Majority Leader Paolo Ortega V (1st District, La Union) na ginagamit ng kampo ni Vice President Sara Duterte ang legal na proseso bilang taktika sa hangaring ilihis ang atensyon ng publiko mula sa kinakaharap na impeachment case.
Binatikos din ni Ortega ang sunod-sunod na mga kasong inihain sa Korte Suprema at Office of the Ombudsman ng kampo ni Duterte laban sa mga kongresistang aniya’y tumupad lamang sa kanilang tungkulin sa impeachment process.
Giit ng La Union solon, ang mga hakbang ng bise presidente ay hindi tunay na paghahanap ng hustisya kundi paraan para lamang manakot at lumikha ng ingay sa media.
“This is a clear abuse of legal processes. Instead of addressing the serious allegations of corruption and misuse of public funds, the Vice President and her camp are wasting the time of our courts with frivolous cases designed to harass those who simply did their duty,” wika ni Ortega.
Dagdag ng ranking House official, “sana harapin na lamang ni VP Duterte ang lahat ng nilalaman ng impeachment na iniwasan niya noon sa imbestigasyon ng Kamara.”
Binigyan-diin ni Ortega na ang ginawang impeachment kay VP Duterte ay naaayon sa Saligang Batas. Binalaan din niya ang paggamit ng hudikatura upang takutin ang mga mambabatas at ilihis ang atensyon ng publiko.
“We see this for what it is—an attempt to intimidate the House, divert attention from the issues, and create noise to mislead the public. But no amount of legal theatrics can erase the facts: there were serious and questionable transactions in the Vice President’s use of confidential funds and in the Department of Education under her watch,” paliwanag ni Ortega.
Hinikayat din niya ang kampo ni Duterte na igalang ang demokratikong proseso at harapin ang mga paratang sa halip na gumamit ng taktika ng panggigipit.
“If the Vice President is truly innocent, she should face the charges head-on and explain herself to the Filipino people, instead of resorting to harassment tactics. The public deserves the truth, not distractions,” dagdag pa niya.
Tiniyak naman ni Ortega na hindi matitinag ang Kongreso sa pagtupad ng mandato nito na tiyakin ang pananagutan sa gobyerno, anuman ang taktika ng pananakot na gawin upang pigilan ang katotohanan.
“These intimidation tactics will not succeed. The House remains firm in its commitment to upholding transparency and accountability in government. We will not allow anyone—no matter how powerful—to evade scrutiny.” (ROMEO ALLAN BUTUYAN II)
