MATAPANG na hinamon ng isang babaeng kongresista ang mga senador na tutol sa isinusulong na amyenda sa Republic Act 11203 na mas kilala sa tawag na Rice Tariffication Law (RTL).
Para kay House Deputy Majority Leader at PBA Partylist Rep. Margarita Nograles, lubhang nakakabahala ang ‘asal’ ng ilang senador sa mga kritikal na usapin sa bansa.
“They (senators) can oppose, of course they are entitled to that. Pero kung mag o-oppose sila kung ano man bigyan nilang dahilan, sana dahil nga naghihirap mga taong-bayan ngayon magbigay sila ng solusyon,” pahayag ni Nograles.
Partikular na tinukoy ng lady solon ang aniya’y pagkontra ng ilang miyembro ng senado sa panukalang amyenda sa RTL.
“Hindi naman pwedeng puro na lang kayo opposition… ano ang solusyon niyo dito?,” dugtong ng PBA Partylist solon.
“At least dito sa Kamara, under the leadership of Speaker Martin Romualdez, we are proposing solutions to the immediate problems both short-term and long-term. So, if you are going to oppose it, I hope the good senators will propose solutions also that’s better than what we are trying to propose here,” patutsada pa ng kongresistang abogado.
Giit ni Nograles, hangad lang ng Kamara tuldukan ang malakawakan at walang habas na pagsasamantala ng mga rice traders sa mga maralitang konsyumer.
“We are addressing, and we are answering to the needs of the Filipino people, and this is under the direction of our administration too.”
Umapela naman si Deputy Majority Leader for Communications at ACT-CIS Partylist Rep. Erwin Tulfo sa mga senador unahin ang interes ng mga mamamayan.
“Isantabi ho muna natin yung mga business interest, personal interest natin. Unahin po muna natin ang interes ng mga tao, ng nakararami. Otherwise, walang mangyayari,” hiling ng ranking House official.
“Kaya tayo napupulaan ng taumbayan. Puro tayo porma. Puro tayo kwento. Why don’t we just do our work? Let us unite. Para sa isang mission, ang mission natin, everybody can buy rice,” ani Tulfo.
Nais naman ni Bukidnon Rep. Jonathan Keith Flores, chairman ng House Committee on Government Reorganization na malaman ang basehan ng ilang senador sa pagkontra sa RTL amendments.
“Kasi on the part of the House, the leadership of Speaker Martin Romualdez is consistently looking for ways para bumaba yung presyo ng bigas and this is one of the ways na nakita ng House,” sabi ni Flores.
“So, we’re moving in that direction – to look for ways nga and we thought that this would be the best to do that. So, if the Senate opposes it or some senators oppose, we would also like to know why there is an opposition to these moves.”
