KUNG nais ng administrasyon ipadama ang tunay na malasakit ng hanay ng mga manggagawa, dapat pangunahan ng pamahalaan ang pagsusulong ng sahod na sapat para bumuhay ng pamilya.
Panawagan ni House Deputy Minority Leader at ACT Teachers partylist Rep. Antonio Tinio, magpatupad ng P1,200 daily minimum wage sa buong bansa.
Ayon sa militanteng kongresista, hindi sapat ang P85 dagdag-sahod para sa mga manggagawang nakabase sa National Capital Region.
“Sahod itaas, presyo ibaba,” sabi ni Tinio. “This is not a wage increase—it is an insult to the Filipino workers who continue to suffer from the rising cost of living under the Marcos Jr. administration.”
“Recall what happened in the previous Congress: a P200 minimum wage increase could not even pass the bicameral committee. Now we are being offered P85? This is a step backward, not forward,” dagdag pa nito.
Hindi rin pinalampas ni Tinio ang mga economic managers ni Marcos na aniya’y nasa likod ng pagharang sa makabuluhang taas-sahod.
“Unang argumento ng mga economic managers: hindi kakayanin ng MSME ang P1,200 per day. Magsasara ang mga negosyo,” ani Tinio.
“But the IBON Foundation study proves otherwise. The P656 wage gap needed to reach P1,200 represents only 49.1% of micro enterprise profits, 42.2% of small enterprise profits, and 29.7% of medium enterprise profits. If MSMEs can afford it, large corporations certainly can. Now the latest computation of the national living wage is P1312 while the national average wage is at P510,” paliwanag ng mambabatas.
Ayon kay Tinio, ang mga malalaking korporasyon, na ang pinagsamang kita ay P1.6 trilyon ay kailangan lamang magbawas ng 36.4% ng pinagsamang kita para madagdagan ng P656 ang sahod ng 3.2 milyong manggagawa.
“Pangalawang argumento: inflationary raw,” sabi pa ni Tinio. “If raising wages causes inflation, then who sets the prices of commodities? The employers themselves. The same capitalists who refuse to raise wages are the ones controlling prices.”
Inihalimbawa rin ng mambabatas ang oil industry na nagtamasa ng husto habang patuloy na nababaon sa kahirapan ang mga ordinaryong empleyado sa mga gasolinahan.
“The real inflation is the greed of capitalists extracting super-profits while workers starve. Capitalists set commodity prices. Capitalists set workers’ wages. This is the fundamental problem.”
