IKINAGALAK ni Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez ang resulta ng OCTA Research survey na nagpapahiwatig ng pagbaba sa bilang ng mga pamilyang Pilipinong dumaranas ng kahirapan at gutom.
Ayon sa lider ng 300-plus strong member na House of Representatives, ang positibong resulta ng survey ay patunay na epektibo ang anti-poverty programs na ipinatupad ng administrasyon ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
Kabilang sa mga tinukoy ni Romualdez ang Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Fair (BPSF) at ang Cash and Rice Distributions (CARD), na inisyatiba mismo ng lider-kongresista.
“It is heartening to see that the number of families considering themselves poor has dropped to 42%, down from 45% in the previous quarter. Similarly, self-rated hunger has decreased to 11% from 14% in the same period,” pahayag ng House Speaker.
“These figures represent a decline of approximately 800,000 families in both categories, a clear indication that our economic measures are effectively reaching and improving the lives of our people,” wika ni Romualdez.
Bukod sa dalawang nabanggit na programa, malaki rin aniya ang ambag ng Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), ang Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) ng Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) ng Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) at maging ang free college education, free health insurance, at direct cash subsidy programs ng pamahalaan sa pagpapabuti ng kabuhayan ng mga mamamayang Pilipino.
“This positive trajectory in reducing poverty and hunger underscores the impact of our targeted policies aimed at enhancing economic stability and providing necessary support to the most vulnerable sectors. The decrease in the number of families who consider themselves food-poor – from 42% to 37% – further attests to the success of our food security programs,” paliwanag ni Romualdez.
Tinukoy din ng Leyte lawmaker ang pagsisikap ng House of Representatives, sa pakikipagtulungan na rin iba’t-ibang ahensya ng pamahalaan para maisakatuparan ang mga programa ni Marcos gaya ng BPSF, CARD Program, ang Start-up, Investment, Business Opportunity and Livelihood (SIBOL), at ang Farmers Assistance for Recovery and Modernization (FARM).
Ipinabatid din ng lider ng Kamara ang pagkakaroon ng pondo sa ilalim ng 2024 national budget para sa Ayuda para sa Kapos ang Kita Program (AKAP), na pamamahalaan din ng DSWD kung saan target tulungan ang 12 million poor and low-income families, o katumbas ng 48 million Filipinos, sa pamamagitan ng pagtanggap ng one-time financial grant ng P5,000.
“Lahat po ng ito ay bilang suporta ng ating Kongreso sa mga programa ng ating mahal na Pangulong Marcos Jr. Makakaasa po tayo na ipagpapatuloy nating mag-isip ng mas maraming programa at ayuda para sa mga kababayan nating nangangailangan,” pagtatapos ni Romualdez.
