KASUNOD ng panawagan ni dating House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez sa Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) at Philippine National Police (PNP) na bawiin ang suporta kay Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr., masusing pinag-aaralan ng Department of Justice (DOJ) ang pagsasampa ng kaso sa kongresistang kaalyado ni former President Rodrigo Duterte.
Ayon kay Justice (DOJ) Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla, layon ng departamento alamin kung pasok ang pahayag ni Alvarez sa kategorya ng sedisyon, inciting to sedition, o rebelyon.
“I have ordered an investigation on the statements of Congressman Pantaleon Alvarez to determine whether it has risen to the level of Sedition, Inciting to Sedition or even Rebellion,” wika ni Remulla.
“As a former lawmaker myself, I would like to remind Congressman Alvarez to act in accordance to the highest standards of ethics, morality, and nationalism, and avoid remarks unbecoming of a member of the House of Representatives.”
Kasunod ng pahayag ni Remulla, agad na naglabas ng dispensa si Alvarez. Palusot ng kongresista, bugso ng emosyon lang ang kanyang binitawang salita.
“Under the Revised Penal Code, sedition is committed by rising publicly and tumultuously to attain by force, intimidation, or by illegal means, unlawful objectives,” paliwanag ni Alvarez.
Gayunpaman, nanindigan ang kongresista na dapat palitan ang liderato ng bansa – sa mapayapa at maayos na paraan.
Subalit iba ang pananaw nina House Majority Leader Manuel Jose Dalipe, Senior Deputy Speaker Aurelio Gonzales Jr., at Deputy Speaker David Suarez. Anila, malinaw na sedisyon ang ginawa ng dating House Speaker.
