WALA na sa Kamara ang kapalaran ng panukalang suspensyon sa implementasyon ng oil excise tax.
Sa isang kalatas, kinumpirma ng Office of the Speaker na pinadala na sa Senado ang sipi ng House Bill 8418 na naglalayong bigyan ng kapangyarihan si Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. na suspindihin o tapyasan ang buwis na kinokolekta ng pamahalaan sa binebentang produktong petrolyo.
Mabilis na nilagdaan ni House Speaker Faustino Dy III ang panukalang akda ni House Majority Leader Sandro Marcos, sa hangarin maibsan ang epekto ng price shock sa mga produktong petrolyo dala ng giyera sa Gitnang Silangan.
“Tuluy-tuloy po ang pagtutok ng Kamara sa mga nangyayari sa Middle East. We will continue to monitor the situation and work with the Executive to help our countrymen during these challenging times,” wika ng lider ng Kamara.
Nakapaloob sa HB 8418 ang pagbibigay ng emergency power sa Punong Ehekutibo partikular ang nasabing pagpapataw ng buwis sa petroleum products, alinsunod na rin sa Development Budget Coordination Committee at Department of Energy.
“The authority may be exercised if the average Dubai crude oil price based on the Mean of Platts Singapore reaches or exceeds $80 per barrel for one month, or if a national emergency or calamity results in extraordinary increases in domestic fuel prices,” saad pa sa naturang proposed measure.
“Any suspension will be effective for up to six months and may be extended for a maximum aggregate period of one year, subject to congressional action. The authority granted to the President will remain in effect until Dec. 31, 2028.”
