PARA sa mga prominenteng kongresista, isang ‘pangarap’ lamang ang pahayag ni Vice President Sara Duterte na kumbinsidong ma-abswelto sa impeachment trial, lalo na’t higit pa sa sapat ang mga nakalap na ebidensya.
“Libre ang mangarap. She can be as confident as she wants, but that doesn’t change the facts. The evidence we’ve uncovered is substantial, well documented, and rooted in her own actions. This is not political harassment. It is accountability in action,” wika ni House Assistant Majority Leader at Zambales 1st District Rep. Jay Khonghun.
Nagbabala naman sina Deputy Majority Leader at La Union 1st District Rep. Paolo Ortega V sa patuloy na pagkonekta sa usapin ng pulitika ang nakatakdang impeachment trial ng una.
“This is not about drama, endorsements or dynasty politics. It’s about upholding the Constitution and protecting public funds. No amount of spin or campaigning will erase the truth,” diin pa ni Ortega.
Ayon kina Khonghun at Ortega, bahagi ng Articles of Impeachment na isinampa laban sa bise presidente ang pagwaldas ng P125 million sa loob lamang ng 11 araw noong Disyembre 2022. Ang nasabing halaga ay bahagi ng kabuuang P612.5 million confidential funds na nakuha ni Duterte.
“The Vice President also used confidential funds despite having no mandate under the law to conduct intelligence or surveillance operations. The OVP is not an intelligence agency. Using intelligence funds was not just irregular, it was illegal,” ani Ortega.
Dagdag ng La Union lawmaker, lumantad ang mga katibayan na maraming sa idineklara ng OVP na nakatanggap ng confidential funds nito ay fake o bogus entities.
“We now have information that points to non-existent or suspicious recipients of public funds. That’s not just a violation. It’s a deception. This goes beyond technicalities, this is potential fraud against the Filipino people,” tigas na sabi pa ni Ortega.
“The evidence is clear, the violations are serious, and the public deserves the truth. This isn’t a confidence game. This is the Constitution at work,” dagdag ng kongresista.
Nagbabala naman si Khonghun sa paggamit ni Duterte ng political allegiances o electoral influence para impluwensiyahan ang Senate trial.
“This is not about former President Duterte. This is about Sara Duterte’s own actions, her own accountability,” ani Khonghun. (ROMEO ALLAN BUTUYAN II)
