PRAYORIDAD ng mayorya sa Kamara bumalangkas at magpatibay ng batas na magbibigay-daan para makamit ng bansa ang ‘upper-middle income (UMIC) status’ bago matapos ang taon.
Sa isang kalatas, tiniyak ni reelected Leyte 1st District Rep. Martin Romualdez na isusulong niya ang mga mahahalagang batas para sa ibayong pagpapalakas ng ekonomiya.
“I will espouse legislative priorities that would help sustain this momentum. Our goal is to create a policy environment that supports job creation, raises incomes, and ensures that economic gains are felt across all sectors of society,” wika ni Romualdez.
Sa pagsipa ng sesyon ng 20th Congress, dapat aniyang pagtutuunan ng pansin ang pagpapabuti sa public services, malakas na pamumuhunan sa imprastraktura, digitalization, human capital development, at pag-unlad na ramdam ng lahat.
Dapat din umanong tugunan ang mga mahahalagang batas para sa food security, abot-kaya at mahusay na healthcare services, pagkakaroon ng dekalidad na edukasyon at pagpapalawak ng infrastructure development sa ilalim ng Build Better More (BBM) program.
“In support of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s vision for a Bagong Pilipinas, I and our allies in the House would work to ensure every law we pass brings us closer to an economy that works for all Filipinos,” dagdag ni Romualdez na tumatayong presidente ng pinakamalaking political bloc sa Kamara — ang Lakas CMD.
Dagdag ng Leyte lawmaker, dapat ding magkaroon ng aktibong pakikipag-ugnayan ang House of Representatives sa Department of Budget and Management (DBM) upang matiyak na ang aaprubahang 2026 national budget, na tinatayang aabot sa kabuuang halaga na P6.793 trillion, ay magsisilbing susi para mapabilis ang pag-unlad tungo na rin sa pag-abot sa medium-term development goals ng Marcos administration.
“We want the national budget to reflect our shared goals of lifting more Filipinos out of poverty, closing inequality gaps, and making government services more efficient and accessible,” giit ni Romualdez.
Base sa pinakahuling classification ng World Bank (WB), ang Pilipinas ay nananatiling nasa lower-middle income (LMIC) category sa pagkakaroon ng gross national income (GNI) per capita na USD4,470 noong nakaraang taon 2024.
Subalit ang nasabing estado ay nalampasan ng Marcos government sa 2023-2028 target nito at nailapit ang Pilipinas sa UMIC threshold na USD4,496. (ROMEO ALLAN BUTUYAN II)
