HINDI lang mga guro at mag-aaral ang dapat protektahan laban sa peligrong dala ng sukdulang init ng panahon, ayon kay Senate Minority Leader Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III, kasabay ng panawagan para sa sa implementasyon ng work break para maiwasan ang hheastroke sa hanay ng mga obrero.
Target ni Pimentel ang isang sistemang kahalintulad aniya ng panuntunan sa United Arab Emirates (UAE) kung saan di umano may mataas na antas ng proteksyon ang mga manggagawa laban sa matinding init ng panahon.
Giit ng senador, dapat sundan ng pamahalaan ang pandaigdigang inisyatiba ng Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) sa United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Hirit ni Pimentel sa pamahalaan – occupational heat safety at health protocols.
“The Department of Labor and Employment should work with the private sector in implementing a similar policy. As I said last year, there should be a temporary work break or compulsory rest periods when the heat index reaches a danger level,” aniya.
Una nang naglabas ng babala ang Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), kaugnay ng nakaambang pag-iinit ng temperatura sa bansa.
“PAGASA’s warning of a ‘danger’ level heat index, ranging from 42 to 51°C in Metro Manila and other regions, underscores the urgency for swift implementation of protocols to prevent heat-related illnesses and injuries,” dugtong ng senador.
Sa datos ng PAGASA, pumalo na sa 43 degrees Celsius ang temperatura sa ilang bahagi ng bansa.
“I am very much concerned about the safety of our workers, especially those working outside directly exposed to the intense heat of the sun, including construction workers among others,” pahabol ni Pimentel.
