KINALAMPAG ng mga magsasaka ang pamahalaan hinggil sa patuloy na pagtaas sa presyo ng bilihin sa kabila pa ng ibinibida ng National Economic Develoopment Authority (NEDA) na pagbaba sa inflation rate.
Ayon sa Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas (KMP), higit na kailangan magpalamas ang Department of Agriculture (DA) ng patunay na kontrolado ng gobyerno ang presyo ng mga pangunahing bilihin sa merkado.
Kabilang sa mga tinutukoy ng militanteng grupo ang pagsirit sa presyo ng bigas, gulay, baboy, manok at isda sa mga nakalipas na araw.
“We see further worsening of the food crisis and food inflation in the coming months and not even the NEDA can cover up this reality,” pahayag ni dating Agrarian Reform Secretary Rafael Mariano na tumatayong chairman emeritus ng KMP.
“It’s the DA that has the authority over the production of rice and other food and it also has the primary responsibility to make sure that there would be an affordable of rice and other food in the country. But what is the DA and its secretary doing.”
“DA’s theatrics and pro-importation policies are not working. President and Agri Secretary Marcos Jr. must show an ounce of genuine political will in resolving the rice and food crisis. After all, he was the one who promised to achieve the P20 per kilo of rice,” ayon sa KMP, kasabay ng hamon kay Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr na gampanan ang trabaho bilang Kalihim ng natuirang departamento.
