HINILING ni House Majority Leader at Ilocos Norte Rep. Sandro Marcos ang pagsasagawa ng congressional briefing hinggil sa lumalalang gulo sa Middle East.
Giit ng kongresistang anak ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. sa mga kapwa mambabatas, masusing bantayan ang sitwasyon at tiyakin ang kaligtasan ng lahat ng overseas Filipino workers sa nabanggit na rehiyon.
Sa ilalim ng pamumuno ni House Speaker Faustino Dy III, agad na inatasan ang House Committees on Foreign Affairs at Overseas Workers Affairs na magkaroon ng joint briefing sa darating na Miyerkules, Marso 11, 2026, upang mabatid ang pinakahuling assessment report sa sitwasyon at kahandaan ng pamahalaan tumugon sa tawag ng saklolo mula sa mga migranteng manggagawang apektado ng giyera.
“With a significant number of Filipinos working across the Middle East, it is important that we stay ahead of developments and ensure that the necessary support mechanisms are in place,” diin ng House majority leader.
“The House wants to receive a full briefing on the situation on the ground and on the readiness of our agencies to assist our nationals should conditions require government intervention,” dagdag pa niya.
Kabilang sa mga nais ipatawag ng batang Marcos sa joint briefing ang mga opisyal ng Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) at iba pang kinauukulan ahensya ng pamahalaan para magprisinta ng datos hinggil sa bilang ng mga Pinoy workers sa bawat lugar na apektado ng gulo, kasama na ang current security condition at contingency plans para sa pagbibigay ng kakukulang tulong, evacuation o repatriation kung kinakailangan.
“Our overseas Filipino workers play a vital role in supporting millions of Filipino families and contributing to the country’s economic stability,” dagdag ng ranking House official.
“At a time of uncertainty in the region, it is important that the government remains fully prepared to protect their welfare and provide assistance when needed.” (ROMER R. BUTUYAN)
