HINDI makabubuti sa bise presidente ang pagdulog sa Korte Suprema para kwestyunin ang impeachment process ng Kamara pero handang humarap sa pagdinig ng Senate impeachment court.
Ayon kay House Committee on Public Accounts Chairman at Bicol Saro partylist Rep. Terry Ridon, magkakontra ang dalawang posisyon ng pangalawang pangulo.
“Either you recognize the process, or you don’t. You can’t do both,” pahayag ng House panel chair.
“If you have sued the very institutions that will hear and try the case — including the Senate — then participating in that process without withdrawing your petition places you in a clearly contradictory, bad-faith legal position,” dugtong ng kongresista.
Punto ni Ridon, dapat bawiin ng kampo ng nasasakdal ang petisyon sa high tribunal bago lumahok sa paglilitis dahil magiging katawa-tawa rin umano ang defense panel.
Sa ngayon, naniniwala ang mambabatas na sarado na ang kaso dahil napagpasyahan na ang pagkakaroon ng probable cause ng dalawang impeachment complaints laban kay Duterte-Carpio.
“Let’s be clear—probable cause has already been firmly established; this case is ready for trial.”
Hinimok din ni Ridon ang bise presidente na sa halip na atakihin ang institusyon at impeachment process, paghandaan na lamang nila ang susunod na yugto — ang pormal na pagdinig ng Senate impeachment court.
