MATAPOS ang pormal na pagsasampa ng kasong murder laban kay suspended Congressman Arnolfo Teves Jr., nakatakda naman idulog ng Department of Justice (DOJ) sa International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) ang pagtugis sa kongresistang suspek sa mahabang talaan ng pagpatay sa Negros Oriental.
Para kay Justice Secretary Crispin Remulla, mahihirapan na si Teves na iwasan ang batas sa sandaling lumabas ang mandamiento de arresto na isusumite naman ng DOJ sa Interpol.
“The Interpol notices will go red when we have a proper warrant of arrest. And there will be no more movement allowed within borders and boundaries. It is not a matter of questioning anymore. It is a matter of rendition,” ani Remulla sa isang panayam.
Paliwanag ni Remulla, sa sandaling ipasa ng pamahalaan ang warrant of arrest na ilalabas ng husgado laban kay Teves, inaasahan naman maglalabas ng red notice ang sa mga bansang miyembro ng Interpol para sa agad na pagdakip sa suspendidong kongresista.
“The individuals are wanted by the requesting member country or international tribunal. Member countries apply their own laws in deciding whether to arrest a person. Extracts of Red Notices are published at the request of the member country concerned and where the public’s help may be needed to locate an individual or if the individual may pose a threat to public safety,” saad sa isang bahagi ng Interpol website.
Paglilinaw ni Remulla, ang mga isinampang murder cases laban kay Teves ay para lamang sa mga pamamaslang na naganap sa Negros Oriental noong taong 2019 at hindi pa kasama ang pagpatay kay Negros Oriental Gov. Roel Degamo at siyam na iba pa noong Marso 4 ng kasalukuyang taon.
