ASAHAN ang mas malamig na panahon sa mga darating na buwan dahil sa pagdating na Northeast Monsoon na mas kilala sa tawag na Amihan, ayon sa Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
Ayon sa PAGASA, bitbit ng Northeast Monsoon ang malamig at tuyong hangin sa malaking bahagi ng kapuluan.
“Over the past several days, the high pressure area over Siberia has strengthened, leading to a strong surge of northeasterly winds which is expected to affect the northern portion of Luzon beginning today and tomorrow, after the passage of Super Typhoon Pepito,” paliwanag ng state weather bureau.
“Furthermore, successive surges of northeasterly winds are expected over the next two weeks, leading to an increase in atmospheric pressure and cooling of surface air temperature over the northern portion of Luzon,” it added. “The development of these meteorological patterns indicate the onset of the Northeast Monsoon (Amihan) season,” dagdag pa ng ahensya.
Bukod anila sa malamig na simoy ng hangin, asahan din ang higit na malalaking alon sa karagatan, partikular sa seaboard ng Luzon sa mga darating na buwan.
Nauna nang ipinaliwanag ng state weather bureau na ang pagkaantala sa pagsisimula ng Amihan ay naging dahilan ng pagpasok ng mga tropical cyclone sa hilagang bahagi ng bansa.
Buwan ng Oktubre ng nakalipas na taon nang magsimulang magparamdam ang Amihan.
