SADYANG pinatakas ang puganteng Korean national na sinamahan ng mga tauhan ng Bureau of Immigration (BI) sa Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office noong Marso 4, ayon kay Immigration Commissioner Joel Viado.
Kasunod ng pag-amin, agad na ipinag-utos ni Viado ang pagsibak sa mga Immigration personnel sa tumulong sa eskapo ng Koreanong wanted sa patong-patong na kaso ng estafa, habang patuloy naman aniya ang imbestigasyon sa iba pang posibleng kasabwat sa naturang bulilyaso.
“This is a clear and obvious violation of duty. No justifications or blame will be accepted—all involved will be held responsible. We will not allow carelessness, dishonesty, or cooperation among our members,” wika ng BI chief.
Higit pa sa pagsibak, sinampahan na rin umano ng kaso ang mga hindi tinukoy ng Immigration personnel na nabisto sa tulong ng CCTV footage.
Samantala, ibinahagi rin ni Viado ang ipinataw na suspensyon sa ilang opisyales ng kawanihan para bigyang daan ang malayang imbestigasyon ng Department of Justice sa loob ng ahensya at pagsusuri sa mga tinaguriang “high-risk deportation and detention cases.”
“For the Bureau, this is a turning point. Being in a bad habit is no longer acceptable. Those who believe they can get away with this ought to reconsider. Anyone who betrays the trust of this institution and the Filipino people will be exposed, punished, and removed,” babala ni Viado.
