PARA kay Iloilo City Rep. Julienne “Jam” Baronda, marapat lang ang iginawad na executive clemency ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos kay former Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog.
“I thank God for the grant of executive clemency to former Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog. The prayers of thousands, who are living witnesses to how he has given it all for Iloilo City as our city mayor and how he has loved the Ilonggos, have been heard. Justice is served,” pambungad na pahayag ng Iloilo City lady solon.
“I have been a witness to what Mayor Jed, his wife Marivic, and their two children went through. And I thank God for giving them the heart and strength to face everything. May God continue to bless and anoint the entire Mabilog family,” dugtong ni Baronda.
“We thank Pres. Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr. and Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin for the grant of the executive clemency. Thank you to everyone who helped Mayor Jed attain justice,” pagtatapos ng mambabatas.
Ang naturang executive clemency ay ibinigay kay Mabilog kaugnay ng administrative case sa Office of the Ombudsman.
Noong October 23, 2017 nang sibakin ng Ombudsman sa pwesto si Mabilog dahil sa umano’y paglabag sa Section 3(h) ng Republic Act 3019, o pagbabawal sa sinumang public officers na magkaroon ng financial interest sa isang negosyo, kontrata o transaksyon na may kaugnayan sa hawak na posisyon.
Partikular na kinasuhan ang former Iloilo City mayor noong 2013 ni dating Iloilo provincial administrator Manuel Mejorada sa alegasyon ng dishonesty at grave misconduct kaugnay ng kontrata ng towing services firm na iniuugnay kay Mabilog. (ROMEO ALLAN BUTUYAN II)
