KUNG seryoso ang administrasyon tuldukan ang kahirapan sa bansa, dapat simulan ang proseso sa bisa ng pagbabalik sa usapang pangkapayapaan sa pagitan ng National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP) at pamahalaan.
Ayon kay House Deputy Minority Leader at ACT Teachers partylist Rep. France Castro napapanahon na ang muling pagbubukas ng peace negotiations para matukoy at matugunan ang mismong ugat ng kahirapan.
“The peace negotiations have gained milestone agreements since 1992. Ironically, the GRP and NDFP panels were set to formally sign important components of the Comprehensive Agreement on Social and Economic Reform (CASER) when President Duterte unilaterally ‘terminated’ the peace talks in November 2017,” paliwanag ni Castro.
Bukod sa peace talks, kinalampag din ng militanteng kongesista si Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. na magpatupad ng tinawag niyang “game-changing measures” para itaas ang kalidad ng edukasyon sa bansa.
Kabilang sa mungkahi ni Castro ang paglalaan ng budget sa edukasyon na kasing laki ng 6% ng gross domestic product (GDP) ng bansa at ang pagsasaayos ng K to 12 curriculum.
Dapat din aniyang bigyan ng makatwirang umento sa sahod ang guro at education support personnel, kalakip ang mga benepisyo tulad ng 15-araw sick leave.
Nanindigan din ang mambabatas na academic freedom sa mga paaralan at pagpapatupad ng democratic governance sa Department of Education (DepEd).
“These measures are urgently needed to overturn the decline of our country’s education quality and to sufficiently capacitate the education system to perform its role in nation-building,” sabi ni Castro.
Ayon kay Castro, maaaring gamitin ng Pangulo ang kanyang paparating na State of the Nation Address (SONA) upang makapagbigay ng direksyon kung papaano tutugunan ang mga problema sa sektor ng edukasyon.
