HINDI lang ang pamilya Marcos ang kalaban ni former Ako Bicol partylist Rep. Zaldy Co. Pati ang mga dating kasamahan sa Kamara, galit na rin sa kanya matapos kaladkarin sa panibagong pasabog laban sa administrasyong Marcos.
Sa magkahiwalay ng pahayag, kapwa itinanggi nina House Quinta-Comm co-chair Mark Enverga at Lanao del Sur Rep. Zia Alonto Adiong ang paratang ni Co sa umano’y pagpapatigil sa imbestigasyon ng Kamara hinggil sa pagsipa sa presyo ng bigas at sibuyas para hindi madawit ang magkapatid na sina First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos at Martin Araneta.
“The statements made by former Rep. Zaldy Co are baseless, illogical, and completely contradicted by the facts. At no point was there any instruction, letter, or director from any official to suspend or halt the inquiry,” pambungad na pahayag ni Enverga, na tumayong chairman ng House Committee on Agriculture and Food.
Giit ni Enverga, buo ang pinakitang suporta ng Department of Agriculture (DA) sa inilargang House probe kung saan makailang beses pang dumalo dito si Secretary Francisco Tiu-Laurel.
“The committee completed its work and submitted a full investigation report. On onion smuggling, the Committee on Agriculture and Food held 11 extensive and often grueling hearings that firmly established the existence of an onion cartel. As a direct result, a case has been filed before the Philippine Competition Commission.” ani Enverga.
Nanindigan ang Quezon province lawmaker na walang sinumang indibidwal o ahensya ang nagtangkang manghimasok, higit lalo utusan ang komite na itigil ang pagsisiyasat tulad ng “pasabog” ng dating kasama sa Kamara.
“No individual or office ever attempted to stop or interfere with this inquiry,” dagdag ni Enverga.
Sa panig ni House Committee on Appropriations vice chairperson at Lanao del Sur Rep. Zia Alonto Adiong, sinabi niyang batid niyang ginawa ng buong katapatan ng House Quinta Comm ang tungkulin nito, gayundin ng komiteng pinamumunuan ni Enverga.
Dagdag niya, sa mga naging pagdinig ay wala siyang natatandaan na nabanggit ang pangalang “Martin Araneta” hinggil sa usapin ng bigas, sibuyas at iba pang agriculture products na ipinapasok sa bansa.
Naniniwala rin si Adiong sa posisyon ni House Majority Leader Sandro Marcos na ang mga banat ni Co laban sa mga miyembro ng First Family ay bahagi ng planong pabagsakin ang kasalukuyang administrasyon at pagnanais naman ng dating Ako Bicol partylist solon na makaiwas sa pagkaka dawit sa mga maanomalyang flood control project.
“By using our own common sense, it would draw us to that conclusion. Kasi may effort talaga calling for the President to step down and with all these revelations attacking the President. So, it’s not far-fetched for any ordinary individual or common na tao… to think that this might be part of an overall destabilization attempt,” pahayag pa ng Mindanaoan lawmaker. (ROMER R. BUTUYAN)
