BILANG isang lingkod bayan na iniluklok sa pwesto ng mga mamamayan, higit na angkop sundin ni Vice President Sara Duterte ang hiling ng sambayanan — ang pagharap sa isinasagawang impeachment proceedings sa Kamara.
Batay sa resulta ng pinakahuling survey na pinangasiwaan ng Octa Research, mayorya ng mga Pilipino ang nagnanais humarap ang bise-presidente sa impeachment proceedings ng House Committee on Justice .
“I hope the Vice President’s legal team will consider addressing all the allegations in the impeachment complaints within the proper forum. The latest survey reflects a clear public signal that Filipinos want these issues answered through the constitutional process now underway in the House Committee on Justice,” sambit ni Lanao del Sur Rep. Zia Alonto Adiong, na tumatayong chairman ng House Committee on Suffrage and Electoral Reforms.
“That participation in the proceedings would allow the Vice President to directly respond to the issues raised,” dugtong ng kongresista.
Batay sa naturang survey, pito sa 10 Pilipino ang naniniwalang dapat sumalang si Duterte sa Senate impeachment trial para sagutin ang inihaing reklamo laban sa kanya.
Bukod dito, 87 percent ng 1,500 respondents ang nagsabing na nalalaman nila ang kinakaharap na impeachment charges ng bise presidente, na ani Alonto ay nagpapatunay na malawak ang hanay ng mga mamamayang nakasubaybay sa House impeachment process.
“OCTA also reported higher support levels in the Visayas (83 percent) and the National Capital Region (81 percent), with Mindanao posting 61 percent,” aniya pa.
“While survey results do not determine the outcome of the case, they point to sustained public interest in the proceedings.”
