ANIMO’Y nakagawa na ng “parallel universe” o ibang dimensyon ang ilang grupo ng netizens na agresibo sa pagpapalakat ng mga maling balita at impormasyon sa hangarin idiskaril ang nalalapit na impeachment trial laban kay Vice President Sara Duterte.
Ayon kay House trial spokesperson at Lanao del Sur Rep. Zia Alonto Adiong, nakababahala at dapat maging mapagmatyag ang taumbayan, suruing munang mabuti ang bawat naririnig, nababasa o natatanggap na detalye hinggil sa impeachment proceedings dahil namamayagpag na ang ‘fake news peddlers’ bago pa man pormal na magsimula ang paglilitis sa pangalawang pangulo.
“The problem with fake news and disinformation is, as we have seen in days, it’s actually created a parallel universe where we don’t add the discourse now, do not even premise on facts, but it’s entirely based on personal opinions,” sabi pa ng Mindanaoan solon.
“So, the result of all this fake news actually created a parallel universe where it actually does not only jive with truth and facts, but we see that it purposely created to destroy truth and facts,” dagdag niya.
Ayon kay Alonto Adiong, inaasahan naman ng 11-member House prosecution panel na may mga magtatangkang sirain ang integridad ng isang constitutional process partikular ang pagpapanagot sa mga matataas na opisyal ng gobyerno muli sa maling pagganap ng tungkulin, gaya ng isang bise presidente.
“We understand that there will be some sections in our society that will be opposed to whatever evidence, not only opposed but even present a parallel reality,” sambit ng mambabatas.
“That’s just to, you know, not only attack the presentation of the prosecution team but to cast doubt in its entirety on the process itself,” dugtong niya.
“We are talking about holding a certain standard for our public officers. That public trust, a public office is a public trust,” punto pa ni Alonto Adiong.
Kaya naman mahigpit na panawagan ng Lanao del Sur lawmaker sa publiko, i-verify munang mabuti ang mga kumakalat na impormasyon sa online o social media at direktang tumutuok sa impeachment proceedings sa halip na paniwalaan ang mapanlinlang na naratibo ng ibang panig.
“We are also calling them because, you know, appealing to them to fact-check whenever disinformation comes out on social media and other platforms, because this is actually the Constitution that we need to protect and the sanctity of the impeachment trial that we also need to protect.”
