“The People’s Republic of China’s actions are a direct assault on our sovereignty and a dangerous escalation that threatens regional peace and stability,” pahayag ng mga kongresistang bahagi ng Young Guns.
“We stand united with the Filipino people and the entire government in defending every inch of our territory and exclusive economic zone. Diplomacy must be backed by resolve. They must cease these illegal activities now.”
“The House Young Guns fully support the diplomatic protest already lodged by the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) with the PRC government. We are one with the Philippine government in demanding the immediate removal of the floating platform, buoys, antennas, and all other illegal structures,” anila pa.
“We will not allow Bajo de Masinloc to be turned into another artificial island through incremental and unlawful occupation, as happened at Mischief Reef and other features,” giit ng grupo.
Sa panig naman ni senior Filipino political leader at former Mindanaoan lawmaker Robert Ace Barbers, sinabi niyang dapat panindigan ang pag-iral ng international rule-based law, kabilang ang pagkilala ng United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) sa territorial domain ng Pilipinas at pagkakaroon ng peaceful at lawful navigation sa West Philippine Sea.
“The West Philippine Sea is not merely a territorial issue for the Philippines. It is a critical international waterway through which a substantial volume of global trade passes every day,” ani Barbers.
Diin ng dating Surigao del Norte solon, maihahalintulad ang WPS sa pinag-aawayang Strait of Hormuz na saklaw din ng freedom of navigation.
“Freedom of navigation is the lifeblood of global trade. Any attempt to limit lawful access to major sea lanes undermines international law, disrupts supply chains, and threatens economic stability. This is why the preservation of an open, rules-based maritime order is in the interest of all nations, regardless of geography,” punto pa ni Barbers.
