PARA kay Lanao del Sur Rep. Zia Alonto Adiong, masyado pang maaga para idulog sa Korte Suprema ang desisyon ng Senate impeachment court na ibaba sa 14 ang voting threshold para sa “conviction” ni Vice President Sara Duterte. “By going to the Supreme Court, I believe, baka premature,” sabi ni Alonto Adiong, na tumatayong tagapagsalita ng House prosecution panel. “Kung ako po tatanungin niyo, the controversy should begin when there is an actual voting, when, for example, the Senate will reach its final verdict,” dagdag niya. Ayon kay Alonto Adiong, bilang isang malayang bansa, sinuman ay maaari naman dumulog sa Korte Suprema para hilingin ang paglilinaw o legal na batayan sa isang usapin. Aniya, ang legal challenges na inakyat sa high tribunal ay isang malaking pagsubok sa Korte Suprema lalo pa’t nag-ugat ang usapin sa probisyong nakapaloob sa 1987 Constitution. “What is important is that this is also a litmus test…because I believe the Constitution is very expressive, explicit on how we can actually act on the accountability mechanism of the Constitution in running after those who are alleged to be violating or have already violated the Constitution. So let’s see, because it is now the first time that we are facing this impeachment court,” aniya pa. Partikular na pinagtuunan ni Alonto Adiong ang sitwasyon ng ng senate impeachment court na kapos ng apat na hurado kabilang sina Senador Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa, Jinggoy Estrada at Rodante Marcoleta na pawang nakakulong bunsod ng mga kinakaharap ng kasong kriminal.
