MANANATILING produktibo ang Kongreso sa nakaatang na mandatong nakasaad sa 1987 Constitution, ayon kay House Deputy Speaker at La Union 1st District Rep. Paolo Ortega V.
Sa isang kalatas, nilinaw ni Ortega na hindi nakakaapekto sa pangunahing trabaho ng mga mambabatas ang pagtugon sa impeachment complaint na inihain laban kay Vice President Sara Duterte.
Para kay Ortega, hindi pwedeng talikuran ng Kongreso ang tinawag niyang “constitutional duty” na dinggin ang reklamo laban sa sinumang “impeachable government officials.”
“Let me be clear – impeachment does not paralyze the House. It activates our constitutional duty while we continue delivering results,” giit ni Ortega na tumayong endorser ng 4th impeachment complaint laban sa pangalawang pangulo.
“The House of Representatives remains firmly on track to be one of the most productive in recent history. The ongoing impeachment proceedings will not derail the chamber’s legislative momentum,” dugtong ni Ortega.
“The House under Speaker Faustino Dy III and Majority Leader Sandro Marcos is operating on two tracks at full speed—legislation and accountability—rejecting claims that the proceedings distract from urgent national concerns such as inflation, fuel prices, and economic stability.”
“Hindi pwedeng ipagpaliban ang pananagutan. Pero hindi rin pwedeng pabayaan ang pangangailangan ng taumbayan. We are doing both—decisively and simultaneously,” dagdag ng kongresista.
Ayon sa ranking House official, napanatili ng Kamara ang pagtutok at mabilis na aksyon sa mga panukalang batas na may direkta at positibong epekto sa kabuhayan ng sambayanang Pilipino sa kabila ng pagsisimula ng impeachment proceedings kontra sa bise-presidente.
Kabilang aniya sa mga nasabing panukala ang paggawad sa Pangulo ng emergency power para sa suspensyon o pagbawas sa excise tax rate para mapababa ang presyo ng mga produktong petrolyo.
Gayundin ang inflation mitigation, food security, at social protection legislation, pagtanggal ng travel tax para mabawasan ang gastos ng mga biyaherong Pinoy, Digital Payments Act para sa modernisasyon ng government services, reporma sa education sector, public service delivery, at pagpapahusay sa pamamahala at ang Anti-Political Dynasty bill.
“These are not abstract policies. These are real interventions that respond to rising costs, improve services, and expand opportunities,” giit pa ng mambabatas.
Ibinida rin ni Ortega ang pag-apruba ng Kamara sa 18 sa 52 legislative agenda ng administrasyong Marcos.
“18 out of 52 LEDAC priority measures have already been passed or advanced to the bicameral stage before the Holy Week break. Key measures include the BARMM elections reset, Digital Payments Act, Travel Tax Abolition, EPIRA amendments, and Department of Water Resources bill. This is not a slowdown. This is acceleration.”
“Even under pressure, the House is moving with discipline and urgency. That is what leadership demands,” bulalas din ng solon.
Tinuya naman ni Ortega ang mga kritiko ng Kamara, na nagsabing dapat iprayoridad ng Kongreso ang economic issues sa halip ang impeachment proceedings.
“The premise is flawed. Addressing inflation and ensuring accountability are not competing tasks—they are both essential to governance,” aniya pa.
“Kung may krisis sa presyo, may tugon ang Kamara. Kung may tanong sa pananagutan, may proseso rin ang Kamara. Hindi kami pipili—gagawin namin pareho.”
