TINABLA ng Korte Suprema ang hiling temporary restraining order (TRO) ni Vice President Sara Duterte kaugnay ng impeachment proceedings na isinasagawa ng House Justice Committee.
Sa isang kalatas, ibinahagi ni House Speaker Faustino Dy ang sipi ng desisyon ng Korte Suprema, kasabay ng paghahayag ng respeto sa kataas-taasang hukuman sa bansa.
“We have the highest respect for the Court and its processes, and we defer to its authority on matters properly brought before it,” wika ni Dy.
“In the absence of any legal restraint, the House of Representatives will continue to discharge its constitutional mandate. The House Committee on Justice will proceed in accordance with the Constitution and the rules, through a fair, orderly, and evidence-based process where all parties are given the opportunity to be heard,” dagdag ng pinuno ng Kamara.
Para kay Dy, malinaw ang mensahe sa likod ng kapasyahan ng Korte Suprema — pantay na pagkilala sa kapangyarihan at tungkulin ng dalawang mahalagang sangay ng pamahalaan.
Nanindigan din ang lider-kongresista na ang prosesong isinasagawa ng naturang komite ay bahagi ng mandatong nakasaad sa Saligang Batas batay sa katotohanan, matibay na ebidensya at umiiral na batas.
Samantala, kumbinsido naman si House Committee on Good Government and Public Accountability Chair at Manila Rep. Joel Chua, na wala nang dahilan para maantala ang impeachment process.
“Tinabla ng Supreme Court si VP Sara, ibig sabihin tuloy ang impeachment. The Supreme Court did not issue a Temporary Restraining Order. This means there is no legal impediment to the ongoing impeachment proceedings. The House Committee on Justice will continue its work as mandated by the Constitution,” bulalas pa ng Manila lawmaker.
“We respect the Supreme Court and its processes. At the same time, the House is duty-bound to proceed unless restrained by the Court. This reflects institutional balance—not conflict,” dugtong niya.
Giit ni Chua, ang paghahain ng petisyon sa SC ay hindi nangangahulugan na dapat agarang din ihinto ang proseso at ang kawalan ng TRO ay patunay na nangingibabaw pa rin ang pananagutan sa hanay ng mga opisyal ng pamahalaan.
Pagtitiyak ng mambabatas, determinado ang House Justice panel na mabatid kung mayroong matibay na basehan ang mga akusasyon sa bise-presidente at kanilang proseso ay evidence-based, document-driven, at rules-based.
Nilinaw din ni Chua ang proseso ay hindi isang pormal na pagdinig, dahil ito ay nakaatang at responsibilidad ng Senate impeachment court, bagkus ay maituturing na isang preliminary constitutional process.
Para kay Chua, ang paglarga ng clarificatory hearing ay malaking oportunidad para kay VP Sara na mailabas ang kanyang panig, magpaliwanag at idepensa ang kanyang sarili.
“The Vice President has the full opportunity to answer allegations in the proper forum. Due process is being observed at every stage. The people expect transparency on issues raised. The House process ensures that facts are examined in an orderly and accountable manner.”
