MATAPOS ang pagsabog na naganap sa punong tanggapan ng Department of Justice (DOJ) sa Maynila, isang bomba naman ang natagpuan sa labas ng gusali ng Senado sa Pasay City.
Ayon kay Ayon kay Senate Sergeant-at-Arms Alfred Corpus Jr., nadiskubre ng mga tauhan ng isang towing company ang sinasabing ‘improvised explosive device’ na nakakubli sa gulong ng isang nakaparadang sasakyan 150 metro ang layo mula sa main entrance ng senate compound.
“Initially, nilaro lang nila and when some of our police officers were patrolling the area saw it, they went to see it and report it before our superiors,” wika ni Corpus sa mga mamamahayag.
“Our EOD [Explosive Ordinance Disposal] president responded, and the package is being investigated. It’s with SOCO [Scene of the Crime Operatives] right now to determine if it is an IED,” anang Senate official.
Kasunod ng nasabing insidente, agad na nagpatupad ng mas mahigpit na seguridad si Senate President Sherwin Gatchalian sa loob at labas ng senado.
“We condemn in the strongest terms this apparent attempt to sow fear near the Senate on the very day our institutions gather for the State of the Nation Address,” ani Gatchalian.
“No such act of intimidation will distract the Senate from its work for the Filipino people.”
