TANGGAL ang angas ng People’s Initiative for Modernization and Reform Action (PIRMA) na nasa likod ng kontrobersyal na People’s Initiative (PI) matapos ibisto ng Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) na matagal nang binawian ng sertipikasyon ang naturang grupo.
Sa pagpapatuloy na imbestigasyon ng Senate Committee on Electoral Reforms and People’s Participation, kinumpirma ni SEC Securities Review Counsel Katrina Jean Miranda, na taong 2004 paq pinawalang bisa ng naturang ahensya ang Certificate of Registration ng PIRMA.
“Yes, madam chair. Their certification of registration has been revoked since February 10, 2004,” tugon ni Miranda kay Senador Imee Marcos sa pagdinig.
Isinagawa ang kumpirmasyon ni Miranda, lalong nakumbinsi si Marcos na may naganap na suhulan sa pangangalap ng lagda sa pekeng peoples initiative kapalit ng P100 ayuda.
Ayon kay Miranda, hindi nagsumite ang PIRMA ng mga documentary requirements mula nang magparehistro ang grupo noong March 12, 1997.
“Since the time of their incorporation, they have not submitted any reportorial requirements with the SEC based on our records,” aniya.
“What we have are articles of incorporation and bylaws that they submitted at the time of their incorporation” dagdag ng abogado.
Natuklasan din ng lupon na hindi bahagi ng orihinal na incorporator sina PIRMA lead convenor Noel Oñate at Anthony Abad, ang pangalan na lumilitaw sa signature forms para sa people’s initiative, nang maisagawa ang incorporation ng grupo.
Samantala, tinabla ni Oñate ang hiling ng mga senador na ilantad ang talaan ng mga nagbigay ng pondong ginamit ng grupo sa pangangalap ng pirma sa iksinusulong na PI.
“They didn’t want their names divulged or revealed. The reason that they gave me is that they are concerned with their privacy, they are concerned with their security,” ayon kay Oñate.
