KUNG pagbabatayan ang mga pinakahuling resulta ng survey, halos pito sa bawat 10 Pilipino ang naniniwalang mabigat ang mga mga paratang na kinakaharap ni Vice President Sara Duterte.
Lumalabas din sa pulso ng mga mamamayan ang pagnanais na matuloy ang impeachment trial ng pangalawang pangulo.
Para kay Bicol Saro partylist Rep. Terry Ridon, na tumatayong chairman ng House Committee on Public Accounts, ang sentimyentong inihayag ng mga Pilipino ay isang malinaw na senyales na nagpapatatag sa paninindigan ng Kamara — ang pamahalaan ang impeachment process laban sa bise-presidente.
“The survey results demonstrate that the impeachment proceedings are neither fringe politics nor mere partisan controversy. The Filipino people are paying close attention, and a clear majority believes the constitutional process should proceed to trial,” wika ni Ridon sa pinakabagong resulta ng Tugon ng Masa survey na pinangasiwaan ng OCTA Research.
“Importantly, these numbers were recorded even before the presentation of additional testimonial and documentary evidence during the April 14 hearing. Public support for constitutional accountability had already reached substantial levels even prior to the latest developments,” dugtong ng kongresista.
Ipinapakita rin aniya sa nasabing survey na batid ng taumbayan na ang impeachment ay hindi isang palabas kundi pagsasabuhay sa probisyon sa ilalim ng 1987 Constitution na nagsusulong na tinatawag na “accountability mechanism” para sa mga seryosong alegayon laban sa mga matataas na opisyal ng gobyerno.
“These results affirm that the Filipino people understand impeachment for what it is—a solemn constitutional process for determining whether grave allegations against an impeachable official warrant trial before the Senate.”
Isinagawa ang face-to-face survey interview noong Marso 19 hanggang 25 sa 1,200 adult respondents kung saan 87 percent ang nakabantay sa paggulong ng impeachment proceedings.
Sa lahat ng mga tinanong ng OCTA research, 69 percent ang sumasang-ayon na dapat isalang sa Senate trial ang bise-presidente, 28 percent ay tutol habang 3 percent ang undecided.
Pinakamarami ang sumusuporta sa pagkakaroon ng impeachment trial mula sa Visayas (83 percent) at National Capital Region (81 percent), kasunod ang Luzon (69 percent). Nasa 61 percent naman ng mga Mindanao respondents ang pabor din dalhin ang Senado na magsisilbing impeachment court, ang reklamo laban sa pangalawang pangulo.
