KINASTIGO ng abogado ni former President Rodrigo Duterte ang umano’y paglabas ng warrant of arrest laban kay Senador Ronald ‘Bato’ dela Rosa na inihayag ni Ombudsman Crispin Remulla kamakailan.
Para kay Atty. Nicholas Kaufman, bunga lang umano ng malikot na imahinasyon ni Remulla ang sinasabing warrant of arrest mula sa International Criminal Court (ICC).
Si Kaufman ang lider ng defense panel na humahawak sa mga kaso crimes against humanity na kinakaharap ni Duterte sa ICC.
“There is nothing to suggest that the supposed arrest warrant for Senator Dela Rosa is anything other than a figment of Ombudsman Remulla’s fertile imagination,” ani Kaufman.
Hindi rin aniya makatuwiran para sa ICC na maglabas ng karagdagang warrant habang hindi pa nareresolba ang isyu ng hurisdiksyon sa imbestigasyon kaugnay ng madugong giyera kontra droga sa panahon ng administrasyong Duterte.
“It goes against all common sense and prosecutorial logic for the ICC to issue further warrants in the context of the Philippines investigation until the issue of its ability to exercise jurisdiction over the so-called war on drugs has been finally resolved on appeal.”
