Habang sabik na nakaantabay ang mga mamamayan sa mga hakbang ng senado kaugnay ng mga reklamo kontra sa pangalawang pinakamataas na opisyal ng bansa, biglang umeksena si Senador Robin Padilla matapos maghain ng isang resolusyon na nagdedeklarang “terminated” na ang “impeachment proceedings” laban kay Vice President Sara Duterte.
Sa Senate Resolution 1371, iginiit na Padilla wala nang pag-asang umusad pa ang impeachment proceedings lalo pa’t tatlong araw na lang at kailangan nang i-adjourn sine die ang Kongreso.
“The Articles of Impeachment against Vice-President Sara Zimmerman Duterte is one such pending matter, and the consideration thereof is one such pending proceeding,” aniya.
“From all the foregoing, it is indubitably clear that the matter of the Articles of Impeachment against Vice-President Sara Zimmerman Duterte and its consideration by the present Senate cannot be fully accomplished by the expiration of the Nineteenth Congress on 30 June 2025, thereby resulting in its termination,” dagdag niya.
Mungkahi ni Padilla na kilalang kaalyado ni Duterte, idekalarang “terminated” na ang “articles of impeachment” na ipinasa ng Kamara sa Senado noong Pebrero 5.
Partikular na tinukoy ni Padilla ang mga probisyon sa ilalim ng Rule XLIV ng Rules of the Senate.
