NAGPAHAYAG ng pakikiisa si Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez sa hanay ng mga mamamahayag sa pagsusulong ng kaligtasan at karapatan.
Pagtitiyak ni Romualdez, tutulong ang Kamara para ganap na matuldukan ang ‘media killings’ sa bansa.
Kasabay nito, nagpaabot ang lider ng Kamara ng kanyang pakikiramay at panalangin sa karahasang sinapit ni Misamis Occidental radio host Juan Jumalon, na kilala rin bilang bilang DJ Johnny Walker ng 94.7 Calamba Gold FM station.
“We are deeply saddened by the tragic demise ofradio host Juan Jumalon, fondly known as DJ Johnny Walker of 94.7 Calamba GoldFM. Our thoughts and prayers are with DJ Johnny Walker’s family, friends, andcolleagues during this challenging time,” ayon pa kay Speaker Romualdez.
Binigyan-diin ng House Speaker na ang freedom of the press ay siyang pundasyon ng demokrasya sa paniwalang ang bawat mamahayag ay mayroong karapatang isagawa ang kanyang propesyon ng walang takot para sakanyang kaligtasan o maging ng sarili nitong buhay.
“Any attack or violence against members of themedia is unacceptable and deeply troubling. We must ensure that thoseresponsible for these heinous acts are brought to justice,” giit pa ni Romualdez.
“To Filipino journalists: Your voices matter.Your stories matter. We stand with you and will continue to advocate for yoursafety and the right to perform your duties without intimidation or harm.Together, we will strive to put an end to these senseless acts of violence and uphold the sanctity of free expression in the Philippines.”
