KASABAY ng paggunita sa makasaysayang araw ng paglabas ng desisyon ng Arbitral Tribunal na nagbasura sa argumento ng bansang China kaugnay ng alitan sa West Philippine Sea, nanawagan ang grupong National Youth Movement for the West Philippine Sea (NYMWPS) sa Palasyo na ideklara bilang West Philippine Sea National Day ang petsa ng Hulyo 12.
Ayon kay Dr. Celia Lamkin na tumatayong NYMWPS chairperson, angkop lang na gawing makabuluhan ang paggunita ng makasaysayang panalo ng Pilipinas sa pinagtatalunang maritime region sa pasok sa 200-nautical mile Philippine Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).
“This landmark ruling not only affirmed our country’s territorial claims but also served as a testament to the resilience and determination of the Filipino people in defending our sovereignty,” wika ni Lamkin sa isang pahayag.
Para kay Lamkin, hindi angkop na mawaglit sa kaisipan ng bawat mamamayan ang soberanya at karapatan ng bawat Pilipino sa West Philippine Sea.
“As a non-partisan and transglobal organization that has been advocating for the preservation of Philippine sovereignty and territorial integrity since 2015, we urge President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr., and to declare July 12 as the West Philippine Sea National Day as a symbol of national pride and sovereignty of our beloved Philippines,” dugtong ng lider ng NYMWPS.
“The victory of our West Philippine Sea is the victory of every Filipino,” pagtatapos ni Lamkin.
