KASABAY ng mariing patutol, target din ng isang militanteng kongresista na busisiin ng Kamara ang nadiskubreng paghuhukay ng lupa sa loob mismo ng Masungi Georeserve sa bayan ng Tanay, lalawigan ng Rizal.
Partikular na tinukoy ni House Deputy Minority Leader and ACT Teachers Partylist Rep. France Castro ang drilling activities na isinasagawa di umano Rizal Wind Energy Corp. para sa isinusulong na renewable energy project.
Giit ng ranking lady minority official, dapat pangalagaan, protektahan at mahigpit na ipatupad ang umiiral na batas hinggil sa pangangalaga ng likas na yaman sa lalawigan ng Rizal.
“The drilling inside the Masungi Karst Conservation Area for the planned wind energy farm poses a severe threat to the environment, particularly endangering the local bird and bat species as well as the delicate ecosystem of the area,” saad sa isang pahayag ni Castro.
“We call for the immediate stop and relocation of this project by the Rizal Wind Energy Corp. (RWEC) whose parent company, Singapore-based Vena Energy, would wreak havoc on our fragile ecology and spell dangerous floods like those experienced now in Mindanao,” litanya ng militanteng kongresista.
Ani Castro, dapat ding kanselahin ang lahat ng government permits para sa wind energy project na sumasakop sa nabanggit na protected area.
“It is essential to prioritize the preservation of our natural heritage and biodiversity over industrial interests that could irreversibly damage the ecosystem,” pagbibigay-diin pa ng mambabatas.
Kaya naman bukod sa pagpapatigil sa naturang proyekto, isinusulong ni Castro ang isang “congressional inquiry in aid of legislation” upang maiwasan ang tuluyang pagkawasak ng Masungi Georeserve.
“Mukhang gigil na gigil talagang mapasok ng mga negosyante ang Masungi Georeserve at gagamitin ang lahat ng palusot para pagkakitaan ang mga yaman nito na walang pakundangan sa kalikasan,” bulalas pa niya.
“We stand in solidarity with the caretakers of the Masungi Georeserve in their advocacy for the protection of this vital ecological site. It is imperative that we uphold environmental laws and consult with key stakeholders to ensure the sustainable management of our natural resources,” pagtatapos ni Castro.
