HINDI lahat ng uso swak sa kabataan, giit ni AnaKalusugan Partylist Rep. Ray Reyes kasabay ng pahayag ng suporta sa kampanya ni Pangulo Ferdinand Marcos Jr. laban sa laganap na bentahan ng illegal vape products at e-cigarettes sa merkado.
“We share the President’s concern as illegal vape and e-cigarettes are becoming more and more accessible to the youth,” pahayag ni Reyes na tumatayong vice-chairperson ng House Committee on Health.
“Even minors can easily buy these products that are sold cheap because they do not pay proper taxes,” pasaring pa ng kongresista.
Ginawa ni Reyes ang pahayag matapos maglabas ng direktiba ang Pangulo sa Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) tugisin at panagutin kahit sino pa ang nasa likod ng bentahan ng vape at e-cigarettes sa mga kabataan gamit ang internet.
“More than the loss of revenue from taxes that should have been paid, we should also make sure that vape and e-cigarettes remain off limits to minors,” giit ni Reyes.
Kasabay nito, muling nanawagan ang AnaKalusugan partylist solon na tanggalin sa Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) at ilipat sa Food and Drug Administration (FDA) ang regulatory functions sa vape products.
Para kay Reyes, buigo ang DTI gampanan ang trabahong bantayan ang malawakang bentahan ng vape products sa mga kabataan.
“How can minors still have access to these illegal products? DTI has shown that it lacks the capability to regulate these products strictly,” pagtatapos ng pro-health solon.
