BUONG giting na inihayag ng mga senior official ng Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) ang katapatan sa Saligang Batas at sa mandato ng administrasyon ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr., sa ginanap na pulong kasama si House Speaker Martin Romualdez.
“We commit to the Constitution and the duly-constituted authorities. We will watch your back,” pahayag ni AFP Deputy Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Jimmy Larida kasabay ng courtesy call ng 17 newly-promoted generals at senior flag officers, sa tanggapan ni Romualdez.
Bukod kay Lt. Gen. Larida, tinukuran din ni Lt. Gen. Ferdinand Barandon na tumatayong pinuno ng Armed Forces Intelligence Command, ang pag-iral ng military professionalism at supporta sa lehitimong gobyerno.
“The Armed Forces will remain professional, mission-focused, and always supportive of duly-constituted government,” ayon kay Barandon.
Kabilang rin sa mga tinalakay sa nasabing pulong ang pagkilala ng pamahalaan sa hanay ng mga sundalo sa paraan ng dagdag-pondo sa AFP at iba pang programa para sa kapakanan ng mga military personnel.
Tiniyak naman ni Romualdez ang suporta ng Kamara sa panukalang pagbibigay ng daily subsistence allowance sa mga sundalo na hindi bababa sa ₱350.
“Sa bersyon ng 2025 national budget ng Kongreso, naglaan tayo ng pondo para sa ₱350 daily subsistence allowance na ating isinulong alinsunod sa kautusan ni Pangulong Marcos upang matulungan ang ating mga sundalo,” ani Romualdez. “Kung susuportahan po ng Senado ang ating panukala at madagdagan pa ang pondo, mas maganda para sa kapakanan ng ating mga sundalo,” diin ng lider ng Kamara.
“Our soldiers are the backbone of our nation’s security and defense. We must ensure they have the resources they need to serve with honor and dedication,” aniya pa.
“The House of Representatives will continue to work closely with the AFP leadership to address pressing concerns, including adequate funding for operations, modernization efforts, and the welfare of our men and women in uniform,” pagtatapos ni Romualdez. (Romeo Allan Butuyan II)
