MISMONG si Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ang pumili kay Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. bilang bagong hepe ng pambansang pulisya, ayon kay Interior and Local Government Sec. Jonvic Remulla.
Sa isang pulong-balitaan, todo-papuri si Remulla kay Nartatez na aniya’y “best qualified” sa posisyon bilang bagong Philippine National Police (PNP) chief.
Bago pa man inihayag ang pagpili kay Nartatez, una nang lumabas ang utos ng Palasyo kay Gen. Nicolas Torre III na bumaba sa pwesto. Walang binanggit sa memorandum order na dahilan sa pagsibak kay Torre.
Ayon kay Remulla, sapat na ang mahabang panahon ng paglilingkod ni Nartatez bilang patunay ng integridad.
“Gen. Nartatez has served the PNP with distinction. Much less, with honor and with integrity. The President, while ruminating through the papers and through the qualifications, said that General Nartatez was best qualified to be the next chief PNP,” wika ni Remulla.
Aminado naman ang DILG chief na walang anumang sablay sa panig ni Torre. (LILY REYES)
