NAMUMURO mabawasan pa ang hanay ng Senate minority bloc matapos sampahan ng ethics complaint si Senador Pia Cayetano na sinasabing nasa likod ng “spliced video” sa komento ng isang militanteng kongresista sa financial records ni Vice President Sara Duterte.
Batay sa reklamong inihain ng iba’t ibang grupong kumakatawan sa sektor ng kababaihan, isang dagok sa integridad ng impeachment court ang ginawa ng mambabatas — na naturingan pa anilang abogado.
Hirit ng mga nagreklamo, patawan ng parusa si Senador Cayetano na umano’y nagpost ng “spliced and misleading” video tungkol kay House prosecutor at Akbayan partylist Rep. Chel Diokno.
“The deliberate editing of official impeachment proceedings to mislead the public is not merely a political act, it is a serious act that strikes at the integrity of the Senate as an impeachment court,” saad sa isang bahagi ng reklamong isinumite sa tanggapan ni Senador Vicente Sotto III na tumatayong chairman ng Committee on Ethics and Privileges.
Kumbinsido rin ang grupo na lumabag si Sen. Cayetano sa Code of Professional Responsibility and Accountability, at sa constitutional oath ng Senator-Judges na dapat anilang kakitaan ng impartiality bilang hukom sa impeachment trial.
“We respectfully submit that the weaponization of edited media is malign in and of itself, but doing so while serving as a senator-judge in an impeachment court, at the expense of a fellow lawyer and lawmaker, is breathtakingly reprehensible.”
“We make this request not out of partisan interest but in fidelity to constitutional governance and in the interest of the Filipino people who deserve transparency, accountability, and principled leadership from those entrusted with legislative power,” ayon pa sa reklamo.
Sa “spliced version” ng video, nagmukhang sinabi ni Diokno na “nagbabakasakali lang” at walang ebidensya ang prosekusyon sa impeachment complaint laban sa bise presidente.
