Prosekusyon: Duterte, feeling ‘above the law’

WALANG pinipiling estado, kasarian o edad man lang ang batas, ayon kay  House prosecution spokesperson at Lanao del Sur Rep. Zia Alonto Adiong, kasabay ng patutsada kay Vice President Sara Duterte na tinawag niyang “feeling above the law.”

Para kay Adiong, ang mga banat ni Duterte sa senate impeachment court ay isang pagpapakita na hindi saklaw ng batas ang mga tulad niyang nasa taas.

Sa kabila pa aniya ng pagiging isang abogado ng pangalawang pangulo, patuloy na inaatake ni Duterte ang mga legal na proseso, kabilang ang mismong impeachment proceedings na nakapaloob mismo sa 1987 Constitution.

Higit pang pinuna ng Lanao del Sur congressman ang paglalabas ng pahayag ni Duterte matapos ang pagdedeklara ng Senate impeachment court ng mahigpit nitong pagpapatupad sa kanilang Rule 18 o ang Sub Judice rule.

“I think she’s just being consistent about not respecting any legal processes, which, just to me, only manifests the kind of attitude that she has, that she holds herself above our laws,” ani Adiong.

Bilang isang abogado, dapat aniyang lalam ng bise-presidente ang prinsipyo sa sub judice kahit pa hindi na ipagdiinan ng Senate impeachment court.

“Even without this trial of hers being conducted in the Senate, she is already familiar with the principle of sub judice rule. So having known that, being a lawyer, still she came out with the statements,” dagdag ni Adiong.

Ibinigay na halimbawa ng prosecution spokesperson ang naunang “bending the law” remarks ni Duterte, na maituturing na direktang pagtuligsa ng huli sa mga namumuno sa impeachment trial hanggang sa huling banat sa prosekusyon na nagsasagawa lamang umano ng “fishing for evidence” at mapanirang mga salita.

“If you go back to the time that we were conducting the hearing in the House of Representatives, she was questioning the jurisdiction of the House, even went up to the Supreme Court to question the jurisdiction, while she was also saying in her team that they will only answer this allegation at the proper forum.

“So ngayon na nandito na tayo sa proper forum, sinasabi naman niya drama,” pagtatapos ni Adiong.
