“With heavy hearts, our family announces the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and patriarch, former Speaker of the House Jose C. de Venecia Jr.,” saad ng pamilya De Venecia.
“For more than six decades, Speaker de Venecia devoted his life to public service — as journalist, diplomat, entrepreneur, legislator, Speaker of the House, and global advocate for peace. As we mourn his passing, we give thanks for a life that helped shape the Philippine Republic — and for a legacy that endures in our laws, our institutions, and our continuing pursuit of peace,” dagdag pa nila.
“The House of Representatives joins the nation in mourning the passing of former Speaker Jose C. De Venecia Jr.—a respected statesman whose vision helped shape modern Philippine democracy and whose leadership left an enduring imprint on the institution he once led. His life of public service was marked by intellect, courage, and an undeniable devotion to the Filipino people,” wika ni Dy sa isang pahayag.
“Speaker Joe was more than a public servant; he was a statesman in the truest sense of the word. He possessed the rare gift of seeing far beyond the horizon, and even rarer, the wisdom to bring others with him,” diin ng Visayan solon.
“As one of the founding fathers of Lakas—then popularly known as Lakas-NUCD—he helped build not just a political party, but a national movement rooted in unity, peace, and inclusive leadership,” dagdag ng former House leader.
“On a personal level, I will forever be grateful for his kindness, guidance, and quiet encouragement over the years. He was generous with his wisdom, gracious in victory, and dignified in all seasons of public life. To me and to many in our party, he was a mentor, a statesman, and a father figure. His passing is deeply personal,’ sambit din niya.
“I extend our deepest condolences. We grieve with you, and we honor with you the extraordinary life of a man who gave his all for the Filipino people. Speaker Joe, you were, and will always be, the heart of Lakas-CMD. Your legacy will live on in every public servant who dares to lead with vision, conviction, and love for the country.” (ROMER R.
