HINDI dapat hayaan ng impeachment court ang pang-iinsulto ng tagapagsalita ng pangalawang pangulo sa senado, gayundin sa konstitusyonal na proseso.
Sa isang kalatas, umapela si House impeachment team spokesperson at Lanao del Sur 1st Dist. Rep. Zia Alonto Adiong sa Senate impeachment court na ipatupad ang Rule 18 o ang sub judice rule, si Vice President Sara Duterte, at maging ang opisyal na tagapagsalita ng nasasakdal.
Partikular na tinukoy ni Alonto Adiong ang pahayag ni Atty. Paolo Panelo, na nagsabing lokohan ang desisyon ang impeachment court sa kung paano tratuhin ang voting threshold batay sa kasalukuyang estado ng mga miyembro ng senado.
Para kay Alonto Adiong, makatwiran lang na pairalin ang sub judice rule sa magkabilang panig.
“We just respect how these gentlemen continuously engage the public. But as much as possible, we also have to be reminded of the sub judice rule. It does not only apply to one group. It applies to everyone, especially if the respondent in this case is the Vice President,” diin ng kongresista.
“So that also includes those who are acting on an official capacity to speak on behalf or for the Vice President as a respondent in this case,” dagdag ng prosecution spokesman.
Ani Alonto Adiong, hindi dapat palampasin ang mga litanya Panelo, na gaya rin ni Duterte ay direktang tinutuligsa ang mismong impeachment court.
