“HINDI na ito normal na pananalita. Isa itong direktang banta sa ating demokrasya, sa ating pamahalaan, at sa seguridad ng ating bansa!”
Ito ang mariing pahayag ni Speaker Martin Romualdez bilang sagot sa mga litanya ni Vice President Sara Duterte — kabilang ang pag-amin sa utos na ipapatay ang mga lider ng bansa.
Para kay Romualdez, lubhang nakababahala ang pagbabanta ni Duterte laban kay Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. at maging sa kabiyak na si First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos. Bukod sa first couple, pasok din si Romualdez sa mga itutumba ng “designated hitman.”
“This is not just an affront to the individuals targeted, it is an attack on the very foundation of our government. It is an insult to every Filipino who believes in the rule of law and the sanctity of life. Violence has no place in our society. It is irreconcilable with the values that have taught and guided us for years – values of respect, and amicable peaceful conflict resolution,” pahayag ni Romualdez.
Kumbinsido rin ang lider ng Kamara na may “chilling effect” sa publiko ang hayagang banta ni Duterte na noon pa man aniya’y kilala sa pagiging marahas.
Idinepensa rin niya ang Kamara laban sa mga pag-atake at paglabag ni Duterte sa protocol, kasabay ng panawagan sa mga kapwa mambabatas na suportahan ang pamunuan ng Kamara sa pagtindig laban sa nais gibain ang integridad ng kongreso.
Wala rin aniyang basehan ang paratang na sinisira niya ang bise presidente dahil sa ambisyon na tumakbo sa 2028. Pilit lang umano inililihis ni pangalawang pangulo ang nabisto bulilyaso sa paglustay ng P612.5 million na confidential funds na inilaan ng Kongreso sa Office of the Vice President (OVP) at sa Department of Education (DepEd) sa ilalim ng pamumuno ni VP Sara.
“Malinaw ang katotohanan: Ang trabaho ko bilang Speaker ay maglingkod, hindi manira. Ang pulitika ng paninira ay hindi kailanman naging bahagi ng aking prinsipyo,” sabi ng lider ng Kamara na mayroong mahigit 300 kongresista,” diin ng Leyte solon.
“These unfounded accusations are not just about me. They are an affront to the House of Representatives. They are an attempt to erode public trust in this institution, to sow division, and to create chaos. We choose unity over division, dialogue over conflict, and cooperation over confrontation,” dagdag pa niya.
“The answer is simple: to divert attention from mounting evidence of fund misuse under her leadership at the Office of the Vice President and the Department of Education.”
“The issues surrounding confidential and intelligence funds, the questionable disbursements, and the lack of transparency demand answers. We will not tolerate and accept vague explanations and evasive responses,” dugtong niya.
Hamon ni Romualdez kay Duterte, sagutin na lang lahat ng mga usapin sa paglustay ng daan-daang milyong confidential funds.
“Kung wala kang tinatago, bakit hindi sagutin ang mga tanong? Karapatan ng taumbayan na malaman ang katotohanan,” giit pa ni Romualdez .
“Accountability is not optional. Transparency is not negotiable. Those entrusted with public funds must be prepared to explain where it was disbursed, and how these resources were utilized.”
