PARA sa isang dalubhasa sa larangan ng ekonomiya at politika, hindi maitatanggi ang partisipasyon ni dating House Speaker Martin Romualdez sa flood control scandal na kinasasangkutan ni former Ako Bicol partylist Rep. Zaldy Co.
Sa isang panayam sa ABS-CBN News Channel, hayagang kinastigo ni dating National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) chief Winnie Monsod, ang palusot ni Romualdez.
Giit ni Monsod, malinaw sa ebidensya na hindi gagalaw si Co nang walang pahintulot ni Romualdez na noo’y lider ng Kamara — gayundin sa papel ng Pangulo.
“Why is the President not allowing the investigation to take place as it should? I mean, all the evidence points out… Zaldy Co cannot operate without Martin saying so, because Martin is the head. Like the President is the head. He has ultimate responsibility for all of this. Martin has ultimate responsibility for what happened in Congress. Why is he not doing that?” wika ni Monsod
Binanggit din niya ang katagang “political leverage” ni Romualdez kay Pangulong Marcos – “I think maybe Martin has something over the President. I don’t think it’s the President’s love for Martin that is preventing him but Martin has something over the President that the President is afraid of. And what could that be? Well if you ask me, Sandro (Marcos) is there in Congress. I don’t know what his involvement is but I do know that Martin must know what the involvement of Sandro is. That is one piece of information that has not yet come out and it’ll probably not come out unless the people push and say we’ve got to get to the bottom of this,” aniya.
Kinalampag din ni Monsod ang Independent Commission for Infrastructure na ilabas sa publiko ang pagdinig kay Romualdez, kasunod ng ulat na na-detain ang Senate resource person na si Orly Guteza, ang nag-iisang testigong direktang nagdawit sa dating lider ng Kamara sa flood control scandal.
