MARIING kinontra ni Antipolo City 2nd District Rep. Romeo Acop di umano’y pamumulitika sa likod ng isinasagawang imbestigasyon ng quad committee kaugnay ng malawakang kalakalan ng droga sa ilalim ng nakalipas na administrasyon.
Ayon kay Acop na tumatayong senior vice chair ng quad comm, walang katotohanan ang alegasyon ni former Presidential Legal Counsel Salvador Panelo tungkol sa di umano’y demolition job na ikinasa ng administrasyon laban sa buong pamilyang Duterte.
“Minion ka ng dating Presidente. Bakit hindi ang dating Presidente mismo ang magpaliwanag? Abogado ba siya ni dating President Duterte? Ang alam ko, si Atty. Martin Delgra ang opisyal na abogado niya,” bulalas ng kongresista.
“Former President Duterte himself said things that aligned with the evidence we uncovered, particularly on extrajudicial killings. The Quad Committee’s work is to bring these truths to light, whether or not it’s uncomfortable for those involved,” giit pa niya.
“Atty. Panelo is entitled to his opinion, but his statements are baseless and uninformed. He just attended a single hearing when former President Duterte appeared so he has absolutely no grasp of the overwhelming evidence and damning testimonies presented before the committee,” ayon kay Acop.
Hamon pa ni Acop sa mga kaalyado ni former President Rodrigo Duterte, maglabas ng katunayan na hindi mastermind ng tinawag niyang “grand criminal enterprise” ang dating pangulo ng bansa.
“We’re just doing our job. This is not about destroying anyone or any group. It’s about uncovering the truth, no matter how uncomfortable it may be,” tigas na sabi pa ng Antipolo City lawmaker, na isa ring abogado at retired police general.
Hindi rin nakalusot kay Acop ang kapwa heneral na si Sen. Ronald dela Rosa.
“If Sen. (Ronald) Dela Rosa feels the findings are inaccurate, he should present evidence to counter them rather than resorting to baseless claims of political intent,” dugtong niya.
Sa naunang pahayag ni Acop hinggil sa aniya’y resulta ng 13 pagdinig ng quad comm, ginamit lamang umano ng dating pangulo ang madugong giyera kontra droga para pagtakpan ang “grand criminal enterprise” na di umano’y pinamumunuan mismo ni Duterte at mga galamay kabilang si former presidential economic adviser Michael Yang.
Ayon kay Acop, malawak ang saklaw ng grand criminal enterprise na pasok sa operasyon ng ilegal na droga, base sa testimonyang lumabas sa pagdinig ng Kamara.
“We go by the pieces of evidence presented in the hearings. There’s no speculation or hearsay. Witnesses like Col. Acierto and others came forward voluntarily to share what they know. If anything, these testimonies are being scrutinized because they were ignored during Duterte’s time. Now, the guilty parties are feeling the pressure and are trying to deflect.”
“This investigation is about accountability and the pursuit of truth. It is not about political maneuvering or targeting anyone for 2028, as he claims,” pahabol ni Acop. (Romeo Allan Butuyan II)
