SA gitna ng nakaambang kakapusan ng suplay ng bigas, sumulpot ang Vietnam bilang bagong kasangga ang Pilipinas matapos tiyakin ang pagtugon sa hirit na pag-angkat ng bigas sa naturang bansa.
Sa isang pahayag, binigyang-pagkilala ni House Committee on Agriculture and Food Chairman at Quezon 1st. Dist. Rep. Wilfrido Mark Enverga si Speaker Martin Romualdez sa matagumpay na pagsusulong ng interes ng bansa.
Katunayan aniya, nasungkit na ni Romualdez ang pagsang-ayon ni National Assembly of Vietnam President Vuong Dinh Hue sa kahilingan ng Pilipinas na umangkat ng bigas sa kanilang bansa.
Para kay Enverga, malaking bentahe rin ang tagumpay ng lider ng Kamara sa pagdalo sa ika-44 na ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary General Assembly na ginanap sa Fairmont Hotel sa Jakarta, Indonesia na nagsilbing pagkakataon para humanap ng mapagkukunan ng suplay ng bigas ang bansa sakaling hindi sumapat inaasahang local rice production.
“Speaker Romualdez displayed once again why he is the alter ego of President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr. with the move to secure rice imports at a crucial time for the Philippines. In terms of team sports, this was a clutch move,” ang pahayag ng House panel chair.
“The threat of El Niño is still present despite the recent rains, and we are still trying to boost our crop production. Other countries are restricting their rice importation policies. Speaker Romualdez knows that we need all the help we can get to ensure a stable supply of rice,” dagdag ng Quezon province lawmaker.
Noong nakaraang Linggo, sa side meeting nina Romualdez at Hue bago ang pagsisimula ng 44th AIPA (ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly) General Assembly sa Jakarta, Indonesia, nabuo nasabing paniniguro ng ranking Vietnam.
Inaasahan naman aniya ng sektor ng konsyumer at agrikultura ang detalye sa naging pagpupulong ng nina Romualdez at Hue sa Jakarta.
“We eagerly await the details of this commitment upon the Speaker’s return to the country. But on behalf of Filipinos, I thank Vietnam for showing that it is a true friend of the Philippines,” mariing pahayag pa ng kongresista.
